Tuesday's Tool -Christmas Lights
This tool came from our pastor this past Sunday morning...
All that being said, I have to confess that one of my favorite things about Christmas is not really that spiritual.
I absolutely love Christmas lights.
On the tree, the houses, the tacky yard decorations. Infact the more lit up and gaudy, the better for me! Ever since I was a kid, I have loved to turn off the lights in my living room and stare at the colorful Christmas tree.
Matthew 5:14 says “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 15nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. " (NASB)
So I really got to thinking about that application. Jesus tells us that WE are the lights of the world. We are the real Christmas lights. Think about that for a minute. Then put yourself in the middle of nowhere on a clear night looking at a city on a nearby hill. What does it look like? What does it provide for you?
It is clear and bright, shiny. It provides comfort and hope for a weary traveler. And that is what Jesus was telling us. Be clearly, brightly, shining Jesus. Be the hope and comfort for those weary travelers on their way to eternal death. A city on a hill can't be hidden.
So today my challenge and tool is for myself and you - lets be the Christmas lights for all the world to see. Shine Jesus and do it in a way that people see your good works and glorify God. Shine Jesus in the crazy Walmart Christmas lines. Shine Jesus when the grumbling shoppers bump into you. Shine Jesus around those family members that don't know the real meaning of Christmas. Serve the people around you. Lend a listening ear to a stranger. And tell people about the beautiful Christmas Light shining inside you.

I am just catching up on November's Posts...I am glad to see this post. I have been giving a lot of thought to Christmas traditions (lights, stockings, Santa, etc.) and how I am going to teach Trustin Biblical truths through all the materialism associated with the holiday. This post will really help explain the lights! It seems like you so easily see Jesus in everything don't you? :) (I secretly know it has taken you years of brain training; hehe)
