On Mission With FamilyLife

When Bryan and I got married in 1999, we knew we were called to ministry. Three years into marriage, pregnant with our first daughter, we began working as houseparents at a children's home.  We were there one year when we realized our marriage was crumbling at the seams. We were serving others and completely neglecting our own family, yet hopeless as to how to begin working on our marriage.

With a relationship close to divorce, an older couple offered to mentor us. Their family was healthy and strong and were desperate to know how they were doing it. For 5 years they poured practical Biblical Truth into our lives, holding us accountable and encouraging us to press on in our faith and marriage. The Lord took our marriage from divorces doorstep, completely hopeless, to a healthy thriving Christ centered home, completely built on Christ!

At the end of the 5 years, a new job opened up for Bryan in Texas (we were living in NC). As we prepared to move, they told us, "God didn't teach you all this to keep to yourselves. You need to be diligent to pour this into the lives of people around you!" (They were giving us a missional charge, although we didn't realize it.)

As we poured out all that practical Biblical Truth into the lives of other couples and parents, we began to see the Lord working in their marriages and families, just as He did ours! It lit a fire in our hearts for marriage and family ministry! We realized that all the years of pain and growth were actually the years the Lord was cultivating our call to family missions!

In 2015 we joined staff with FamilyLife, a ministry of Cru. FamilyLife is a global marriage and family ministry whos mission is to 'effectively develop godly marriages and families who change the world one home at a time!" We believe that if you reach the home, you reach the world!

Bryan and I are humbled and thankful that the Lord has not only redeemed our story, but also allowed us to work to reach and equip families around the world!
