Tuesday's Tool

2 Tools for the day...

1. VOTE!!!

2. Meal Plan. If you don't already do this, try it - it will save so much money and time. Sit down before you go grocery shopping and plan out 7 meals. Write down everything you'll need to prepare the meals. Be sure to check your pantry and freezer to see if you already have some of the items so you don't buy needlessly. Use the flyer from your favorite grocery store and coupons to help plan the meals. (Some of our local stores have advertised weekly "meal deals" that can really save money. I plan meals with fresh produce for the first part of the week and frozen or canned produce for the latter part of the week.) Then go to the store with your list and buy only what you have written down.  Avoid the temptation to buy stuff that you don't need and don't go when you're hungry!  Then keep the list of meals in a spot in the kitchen where you can refer to it when you're getting ready for that nights meal. Also you can peek at it to prepare for the following nights meal as well - ie  if you need to thaw meat in the fridge, chop veggies, etc.  This will save you from making multiple trips to the store, keep you from running out for fast food when you don't have anything ready, save you loads of money (a dinner at home can cost $10 for a family of 4; dinner out can cost 2-3 times that), and free up your mind from having to plan a meal last minute. Happy Planning!
