Baby Elijah

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you know that Elijah 'Eli' Christopher King was born on July 6 at 12:52 pm. He was 7lb 12oz and 19 1/4" long. I will post some pictures on the blog in the next few days. Bryan has the camera (the kids are singing this morning in church), otherwise I would do it today.

The labor and delivery went wonderfully! I appreciate everyone's prayers. We found out, after the induction had officially begun, that I couldn't have an epidural due to a low platelet count. FYI - a low platelet count means that I would bleed longer; my body would have more trouble stopping the bleeding. So having an epidural would have put me at risk for a hematoma in the spine. And that would have resulted in spinal surgery and other complications. All that to say, I had to go through the labor and delivery without the glorious epidural and this is where everyone praying really bridged the gap for me.

Bryan and my sister Tracie stood next to me for 2 1/2 hours of tough contractions. And if it weren't for them, I'm not quite sure how that day would have gone! They were amazing coaches and provided comfort measures that helped me so much.

All that to say, Eli will be 2 weeks on Tuesday. It's hard to believe that 2 weeks have already passed. He is starting to make eye contact, has stronger neck muscles, and loves to snuggle! I can't imagine our lives without him. And Ellie thinks he's the greatest thing since sliced bread! She takes great pride in the fact that she is a big sister now and frequently kisses him on the head. It's nice because he ends up with pizza and cookies and all kids of yummy goodness on his noggin!!

So I will post pics soon. Love you all....
