God and a Hot Dog

Today I was cutting a hot dog up for Ellie and I started thinking about God's Sovereign hand - how it's woven into everything.   I don't know why, but every time I cut up hot dogs or grapes or any food that has been noted as a "choking hazard" for small children, I pray for safe food passage!  I know that children die from hot dogs and so I pray for my kids - that they may swallow safely!  Yes I realize this may come off as bizarre, but I do. So today as I was cutting the hot dog and praying, God reminded me that even in those small pieces of hot dog, He is Sovereign.  He is in control of the size of the dogs and the way that it's swallowed and so on...  What comfort!!! As a mom, I am concerned so much for my children (I've been told many times "wait 'till they get older")!  And God in His perfect way that He speaks, comforted my heart to know that if He's involved in the size of the hot dog pieces, He's surely involved in every other area of their lives - big or small, amazing or unnoticable.  And so when a 'squito' lands on Ellie and she screams like she's dying, He's in control.  Or when a toy gets lost and we pray for God to find it, He's in control.  Or when Sarah hits her head 4 times in 1 day, (like today) He is Sovereign.  And I can rest that every situation He allows into our lives is approved by His hands.

Thanks for sharing. We need to be reminded that God is in control.

I borrowed the following from "Our Daily Bread."

"If every circumstance finds us abiding in Christ, we will find Christ abiding with us in every circumstance."

Love you

Or when they go into enemy territory for 1 year, He's in control. Or when they break a bone snowboarding, again, He's in control. Or when they make choices that will bring them heartache, He is Sovereign. When their "friends" aren't friends at all, He is in control. When they fall down the stairs, He is in control. Thankfully, it is ALL a part of His plan, none of it up to chance, already all on His calendar...until their very last breath. I often times don't understand His plans, but He knew that would happen too...He lets me rest there sometimes, and sometimes He shows me glimmers of His purposes...when the new life brings such joy, when the work that they do is well done, when they come to understand that they can choose to bring Him glory, when they choose to accept His great love for them, He is in control and Sovereign. Praise the Lord!! :)

Love you Friend! Thanks for getting me thinking... :)
